Entities Latin Characters

Latin characters include the letters used by English and many other languages, along with accented letters, ligatures, and additional characters derived from the Latin alphabet. HTML character references can be used to represent many of these characters using named, decimal, or hexadecimal references.

Most Latin characters can be entered directly into an HTML document when UTF-8 encoding is used. Character references are useful when a character is difficult to type or when using a reference makes the HTML source easier to understand.
